FAQs

We understand that leaving your furry friend with a new person can be daunting, so we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to put your mind at ease.

Are all your dog walks off lead?

No, we tailor our walks to match the individual needs of our clients and their dogs. If you prefer, we can walk your dog on your local paths and pavements, working on lead walking etiquette and roadside behaviour. When you book a walk, we can discuss whether you want on lead, off lead, or a bit of both.

How many dogs can you walk at once?

We limit our group walks to a maximum of four dogs to ensure each dog gets the attention and exercise they need. For solo walks, we can tailor our service to your dog's specific needs.

My animals need something not listed in your services, can you help?

Yes, please get in touch with to discuss your needs and we can develop a bespoke plan for your animals.

How do I book a walk or pet visit?

Contact us by phone, text, email, WhatsApp, Facebook messenger or our online contact form. Let us know what you are looking for and we will schedule a meet and greet to find out more and complete the registration forms.

My dog is nervous around other dogs, will you be able to walk him?

Yes, we can provide a solo walk for your dog, and will choose our walking routes carefully to allow them to have an enjoyable and successful walk. If your dog is nervous, but not aggressive, we can start with solo walks and then gradually introduce them to calm and friendly dogs to build them up to feeling confident on a group walk. We have lots of experience of walking and training nervous and reactive dogs, and find that many dogs can gain in confidence with careful support and patience.

What types of dogs are suitable for group walks?

Dogs on group walks will need to be comfortable around other dogs and be well-socialised. Before joining a group walk, we will conduct a meet and greet with your dog to assess suitability and match them to one of our current groups. This enables us to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our dogs.

Where do the group walks take place?

We use a range of locations in the CB8 area, all of which are dog-friendly and spacious, safe and stimulating environments. We avoid any locations with livestock.

Is your service available on short notice or for emergencies?

We strive to accommodate last-minute requests and emergencies wherever possible. Please contact us for assistance, and we will do our best to help, depending on availability.

Can I book multiple pet visits per day?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate multiple visits per day to ensure your animals receive the care and attention they need, depending on our availability.

Can I specify a particular time of day for my dog to be walked?

We can never pinpoint an exact time for your walk, but we endeavour to walk as near to any requested time as possible. Please contact us to discuss your needs, and we will do our best to fit in with your requirements.

If I book a 60 min walk, how long will my dog be out?

When you book a 60 min walk, your dog will be on their walk for 60 mins. They will be out of the house for additional time for travel and to pick up / drop off other dogs on the group walk.

Do I need to be at home when you pick up or drop off my dog?

No, most clients are happy for us to hold keys for them which allows us to collect and drop off your dog while you're not at home. Keys are kept securely and will only be marked with your dog's name and your surname. Our business insurance provides cover in the unlikely event of loss or theft of keys, including the cost of replacing locks.

What happens in the event of an emergency?

I am trained to administer pet first aid and I carry a pet first aid kit in my van and about my person on every walk. We will contact you immediately to discuss the situation. If we are unable to get hold of you and urgent veterinary attention is required, we will take your pet to your nominated veterinary practice or to the nearest vet depending on the circumstances.

Can I just book occasional walks?

Of course! We are happy to offer ad-hoc walks and can be flexible when it comes to booking, subject to availability. Once you are registered with us, you can book in walks as and when you need them - please ensure you give at least 24 hours notice (more if possible) so that we can schedule them in.

Can I meet the person who will be walking my dog?

Yes, we require an introductory meet and greet at your home when you register with us. This allows you to discuss your requirements, ask any questions, and allows your dog to begin to familiarise themselves with their new dog walker. Meet and greets can be arranged at fairly short notice at a time convenient for you.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we are ensured with a specialist dog walker business policy through Petplan Sanctuary. This provides up to £5million public liability cover, as well as cover in the unlikely event of loss, theft or injury of your pet, and loss or theft of your keys. A copy of the full policy cover can be provided on request.

Will I be charged if I cancel a walk at short notice?

There is no cancellation fee, providing you give us a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation. Cancellations at shorter notice will incur the full cost of the booking.

Can you do early morning, evening and weekend walks?

We are happy to offer early morning walks on a regular basis (we're out walking our own dogs at 5am!). We're typically ready to walk your dogs from 7am - if your mornings are hectic, then we can help while you get ready for work or sort out the kids. Solo or group walks available.

Evening and weekend walks can be arranged on occasion and may be subject to an additional charge - please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Do I have to pay for walks upfront?

Some clients choose to pay in advance, others are invoiced in arrears (either weekly or monthly). We accept payment by bank transfer or direct debit.

Do I need to provide you with poo bags and treats?

No, we provide biodegradable poo bags and healthy treats, however please let us know if your dog is allergic or intolerant to certain treats or ingredients.

Do you accept all types of dogs/pets?

We accept all breeds of dogs, except for those covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act, which now includes XL Bully dogs (this is down to our insurance cover, otherwise we would happily work with them). If your dog has aggressive tendencies then please have a chat with us, as we can provide solo walks for dogs needing more care. For pet visits, we are happy to work with all sorts of animals.

Do you walk dogs in season?

Unfortunately we will not be able to walk your dog whilst she is in season, however, we would be happy to offer pet visits for her during this time.

Do you have experience with rare or exotic pets?

Yes, we have experience with all types of pets, including reptiles and invertebrates. We always take the time to get to know your pet's specific needs and personality to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable experience with us.

Can you look after my dogs whilst I am away for a few days?

Legally, a dog must be left with someone in the home overnight, or they must board at another location. We do not do overnight stays or boarding in our home due to the needs of our own dogs. However, some clients have a friend or family member stay the night with their dog and we come in during the day to walk the dog.

I'm going away, can you look after my cat?

Yes, cats do not need someone to stay with them overnight, so I can do one or more visits during the day (depending on their needs) to feed them, clean litter trays, give them some attention, play with them, and administer medications if required.
